Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 October 2026
This Policy explains what information No Folds Given ("we", "us") handles when you use nofoldsgiven.com, and the choices you have. The short version: you can play with no account, your camera and microphone are always optional, and we do not sell personal data.
Privacy questions or requests: nofoldsgiven@gmail.com.
1. Information stored on your device
To make the game work in your browser we store small pieces of information on your device (local storage): the name you choose, your avatar and look, your current room and game settings, chip stacks and the table ledger, and recent hand history. This stays on your device. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this domain.
2. Optional profiles and sign-in
No account is required to play. If you create an account, Amazon Cognito handles email verification, your password and sign-in. Cognito stores your email address, display name and saved avatar settings. Our game server stores your latest 200 personal hand summaries under your account identifier so you can retrieve them on another device. We use these details to sign you in, restore your profile and provide your saved history. Guest history is not automatically uploaded into an account. We will not use sign-in email addresses for marketing without your consent, and you can ask us to delete your account and saved history using the contact address above.
3. Camera and microphone
- Your browser asks your permission before camera or microphone access. Both are off until you turn them on, and you can turn them off or mute at any time.
- At an online table, enabling your camera or microphone shares live video or audio with the other players connected to that table's call. Joining table audio lets you hear players while your own camera and microphone remain off. In local practice, camera and microphone previews stay on your device.
- Online calls use Stream (GetStream) to transmit live media. Stream receives a random call participant identifier, your display name, connection information and the media you choose to share. See Stream's Privacy Policy. Our game server does not receive or store the media, and recording, transcription and broadcasting are disabled for these calls.
- Never turn your camera on unless you are comfortable with the people at your table seeing you. Only join rooms shared by people you trust.
4. Games, chat and other players
Your display name, avatar, stack size, in-game actions and messages are visible to the other players at your table, because that is how the game works. Private rooms are protected only by their invite link or room code: anyone with the link may be able to join and see the table.
When you create or join an online room, your display name, avatar settings, game actions and chat messages are sent to our game server and relayed to the other players at your table so the game can run. Active rooms exist in server memory. Chat text is not retained after a room closes. Gameplay records and your personal hand history are retained as described in the account and gameplay analytics sections of this policy.
5. Cookies and analytics
We use browser storage to run the game and the gameplay analytics described below. Optional sign-in also uses authentication cookies on the Cognito sign-in service and session tokens in your browser. Signing out clears the active account session and restores the guest profile and history shown on this device. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Joining a call also connects your browser to Stream to deliver audio and video.
6. Gameplay analytics
To run and improve the game (and to build player stats and coaching features), our game server keeps gameplay records tied to a random player id stored in your browser — plus your account email address if you have signed in. For online tables this includes, for every hand: the cards dealt to each seat, every player's actions and results, buy-ins and top-ups, and how long decisions took. These hand records are for our internal admin, statistics and anti-cheating review; other players never see your folded cards in the game. We also record counts and durations: sessions, tables hosted and joined, time seated and playing, how long your camera and microphone were switched on (durations only — our game server never records or receives the audio or video itself; online media is relayed by Stream as described above), and counts of chat messages and reactions (we do not store chat message text on the server). Practice games on your own device send the same hand summaries from your browser. Access to this admin data is restricted to us. You can ask us to delete your analytics record via the contact address above; clearing your browser storage also resets your player id, which unlinks future play from the old record.
7. Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share information only with service providers who help us operate the Service (for example hosting, and the database used for optional profiles), under their terms and only as needed, or where required by law.
8. How long we keep information
Information on your device stays until you clear it. If you created an optional profile, we keep it until you delete it or ask us to. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any legal obligations.
9. Children
The Service is for people aged 18 or over (see our Terms & Conditions) and is not directed at children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to certain uses. Email us at nofoldsgiven@gmail.com and we will respond as required by applicable law. If you are in the UK, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy as the Service grows — for example when new features change how information is handled. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for anything significant, draw attention to the change on the site.
